Domestic Archaeology

On Saturday 4 October 2025, at 11am, Domestic Archaeology, curated by Daniela Beltrani, opens.
This physical and poetic exploration delves into hidden and forgotten spaces, reflecting on intimacy, memory, and the home as the heart of daily life.
The site-specific installation inhabits the cellar, a dark space, described by Gaston Bachelard as a place of dreaming and searching for “unattainable treasures” (Poetics of Space, 1975).
Objects recovered from the house, small and large treasures, tell stories of lost memories and deep emotions, forming a portal into the unconscious.
The cellar itself - its air, stones, vaulted ceiling, and handcrafted metal details - becomes part of the work. As Bachelard notes, in our electrified age, the unconscious still “takes the candlestick” to descend underground.
Domestic Archaeology is part of the 21st AMACI Contemporary Day, opening cultural spaces Italy-wide for inclusive art.
Join us at KEPOS, Via Santa Maria in Castello 11, 11am-6pm, free entry.
